Yes, you read it right. At around 9:30 PM on Thursday (21st of August 2008.) I, Rhodri Tomos Brady asked Sibyl Harriet Cooke Steed to be my wife.
We have known each other for over four years and as mentioned have been rather closer for two of them. We felt the time was right, and after much prayer and discussion over the past year or so; I got down on one knee and popped the question! (Might I add, she did say yes!)
Now comes the twist…
On Friday, Sibyl left for her ‘Gap-Year’ travels, and as we speak she is in Vietnam, where she will have the joy of teaching children English for the next five months. THEN she is traveling around various different countries for another 5 months!
It’s excruciatingly hard, but we both have God as our strength.
Oh it’s soooo cool calling her my fiancée. :-D
Oh yeah and the ring! What a wonderful tradition we have in this country; its thought to have been started by the Romans, who believed this finger to be the beginning of the vena amoris (“vein of love”), the vein that leads to the heart.
