Karaagadzhlar: The Invisible Village

November 17, 2009 · 3 Comments

Reports are coming in that the small village of ‘Karaagadzhlar’ in the Aghjabadi Rayon of Azerbaijan. Has become the first clustered human settlement to become invisible.

The area indicated in red is thought to be the village.

Experts are sceptical as to the truth of this claim, however Professor Ratfig Bial of the Eland Precept said in a statement today that the possibility of active camouflage was highly plausible:

A group of camouflage technologies which allowed an object to blend into its surroundings by use of panels or coatings capable of altering their appearance, color, luminance and reflective properties has been developed. However this is thought to have been stolen from a top-secret location at approximately 5 am on the morning of July 2nd 1982. The ingredients to achieve active camouflage are all there and they have the capacity to provide perfect concealment from visual detection.

It is thought that they are the perpetrators of the theft of the US army’s cloaking device which they had previously used as an advanced stealth technology that causes immediate invisibility.

An interpretation as to what technique may have been used to conceal the village.

Any attempt to try and find out whether these claims are true have been thwarted as all the surrounding towns and villages have been put on high security alert from their individual law enforcement authorities, which in Azerbaijan have total control over who or what goes out and in.

By now, not one Azerbaijani website mentions the village under this name, making it difficult for Police in the area to gain any ground in finding those responsible for this. A private investigation is underway.

Top 5 reasons why men are 60% more likely to develop cancer in the UK.

June 15, 2009 · Leave a Comment

A report out today suggests that men in the UK are 60% more likely to develop cancer than women. Why?

1. Men tend to prefer a more unhealthy way of living.

For example, men tend to prefer beer to wine, and:

Beer drinkers are more likely to buy unhealthy food such as chips and ready meals than people who prefer wine, a Danish study suggests.

2. More men smoke than women.

China Male Smokers: 50% China Women Smokers: 18%

US Male Smokers: 35% US Female Smokers: 20%

The trend tends to be the same in the UK also.

I’m sure you’ve heard some of these crazy rumours about smoking being bad for you.

3. Ignorance?

Women’s magazines are packed full of lists and articles all about the various different things that can cause you cancer; women are clued up about these things.

However men don’t know, and more importantly don’t really care if jelly beans kill you, and the other million things.

4. Men are more reluctant to seek medical help.

Men tend to be less eager to pay regular visits to the GP, they are often seen as wasting time and many males think ‘if it ain’t broke don’t fix it’. Whereas the issue could well be ‘it is broke and it needs fixing, but it don’t hurt right now so I’m not gonna think about it.’

5. It’s all about the X&Y!

According to Time magazine:

Women have two X chromosomes, while men have one. (Men have an X and a Y.) When cells go through aging and damage, they have a choice in terms of genes — either on one X chromosome or the other. Consider it this way: you have a population of cells, all aging together. In some cells, the genes on one X chromosome are active; in other cells, by chance, the same set of genes, with different variations, are active on the other X chromosome. Don’t forget, we all have the same genes — the reason we differ is because we express different variations of those genes, like different colors of a car. Now, if one set of variations provides a survival advantage for the cells versus another, then the cells with the advantage will persist while the other ones will die off, leaving behind more cells with the genes on the more advantageous X chromosome. So, in women, cells can perhaps be protected by a slightly better variation of a gene on the second X chromosome. Men don’t have this luxury and don’t get this choice.

Any objections?

“What do you have next?” “Oh great, double social networking lesson.”

March 26, 2009 · 2 Comments

According to The Telegraph:

Children under 11 will be taught how to use the social networking website Twitter, as well as blogs, webcams and podcasts under plans for a new high-tech primary school curriculum.

The thing is, any child who wants to be on Twitter or who wants to make a podcast already knows how.

This ludicrous idea is being suggested because the government is run by stupid grownups. They think that the fact they just discovered Twitter (see here) means that the idea of social networking is a brand spanking new thing and that it’s all of a sudden essential to implement it on the ignorant kids of the United Kingdom. SOCIAL NETWORKING HAS BEEN AROUND FOR AGES.

Here are but a few.

Here are but a few.

School children probably already have new ways of communicating with each other through technology. They could give Gordon Brown three years worth of lessons in computers and the internet.

School is for learning about things that grownups know, things that kids couldn’t or wouldn’t know about of their own accord like Henry VIII and Pythagoras. School is not for learning about things that kids would do anyway whether they’re taught it or not.

No its not.

No it's not.

Teaching Twitter in school would be like Sir Trevor McDonald teaching you how to skateboard, or Anne Widdecombe teaching you how to freestyle rap.

sir-trevor-mcdonald-9Anne Widdecombe

On the other hand, maybe this is a secret scheme to get kids off Twitter, and get on with their work! We all know that if something is cool, it instantly becomes uncool when adults catch on to it. For example, on a lot of TV programmes and films recently (He’s Just Not That Into You, Horne & Corden) they talk about MySpace as if they’re in the know. MySpace is dead and gone, no one is on it anymore unless they’re a musician or old. If a teacher was to actually order you to go on the internet and tell all your friends that you just had a ham and cheese sandwich, they would immediately beg to be taught algebra!

This is not cool. Not cool at all.

The government becomes more and more like someone’s embarrassing Dad every day.

Gordon Brown cool

March 21st: What on earth is Vernal Equinox?

March 21, 2009 · 1 Comment

An equinox occurs twice a year, when the tilt of the Earth’s axis is inclined neither away from nor towards the Sun, the Sun being vertically above a point on the Equator.

Cool eh?

Apparently the darkness of last night was exactly the same length as the light of the daylight! Which obviously means that all these bearded fellows must go and dance around stone henge:

Beware – Billie Joe still thinks he’s Bono.

March 19, 2009 · 5 Comments

An album cover that looks like it was made in a GCSE design and Technology project.

So Billie Joe announces to his eager fans that the new album 21st Century Breakdown (nifty title) has been fuelled by his distrust of politicians.

Boooooooring!

He whined to Rolling Stone:

“A lot of people were born into an unlucky time, the era of George W. Bush. There is an optimism now with Obama… be aware. Don’t look at this guy as the answer to our prayers. You still need to be involved.”

I just thought it would be nice if they dropped the whole politics thing after really going for it on the hugely popular American Idiot. Maybe they could get back to just writing music about panic attacks, sexual orientation, boredom & ex-girlfriends.

Three New Blogs from Blewog!

March 19, 2009 · 2 Comments

Having thought about what this blog is seeking to achieve, and getting advice from others; I felt it was necessary to broaden or perhaps focus on our readership and their desires.

Basically there are three other blogs for people who want only certain aspects of what The Blewog Blog has to offer.

Allow me to point out that nothing will change about this blog (in theory) every post I put on the other blogs will find it’s way onto this one. I stick by the saying: If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!

What the three new blogs have to offer:

  1. Post thoughts & feelings on my own Christian life.
  2. Add any encouraging thoughts that I may have learned from the Bible or other Christians.
  3. Discuss issues of philosophy, theology, spirituality and other such matters in our current society & culture.

  • Moo is a blog which focuses on the arts. Specifically:
  1. MOOsic.
  2. MOOvies.
  3. Theatre.
  4. Any other such arty things.

  1. Current Affairs.
  2. News.
  3. Internet Virals.
  4. Blewog-biased opinion on all of those things.

I hope this helps some readers, and doesn’t affect the readers who want to stay here at The Blewog Blog.

Please comment with your thoughts and support (or lack of it).

You will be arrested if you laugh at this man’s beard!

March 10, 2009 · 4 Comments

FUNNIEST. BEARD. EVER.

I feel very sorry for this muslim police officer, who claims he was forced out of his job by colleagues who made fun of his beard and called him a ‘Paki’

The married father of two also claims officers pulled faces at each other if told they had to go out on patrol with him and forced him to walk home from a job instead of picking him up.

(Via Daily Mail)

All very unacceptable stuff; but there’s no denying how hilarious the guy’s beard is.
